South African twins Marco Jansen and Duan Jansen became the first twins to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
This feat was accomplished by the duo when Duan Jansen made his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Duan had a forgettable debut in the IPL, taking 1/53 in four overs at a 13.25 economy rate. He was MI’s most expensive bowler today.
Duan has yet to represent South Africa internationally. In 20 first-class matches, he has 36 wickets, 540 runs, and four half-centuries at an average of more than 22. In 16 List-A games, he has 19 wickets and 99 runs in 11 innings. In 31 T20s, he has 24 wickets and 266 runs at an average of 19.00 in 21 innings.
Marco Jansen has played for the Mumbai Indians (MI) and is currently playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL.
Marco has appeared in 12 IPL matches, taking 13 wickets at an average of 28.62 and an economy rate of 8.27. In the IPL, his best bowling figures are 3/25.
Marco has played 11 Tests for South Africa, taking 44 wickets at an average of 22.38 and an economy rate of 3.32. In Tests, his best bowling figures are 5/35. In 18 innings, he has 306 runs, one half-century, and an average above 20.
