Google has introduced several new features throughout its development, including a recent update to its Weather app. Previously, the forecast displayed only the day, such as Today, Sunday, or Monday, but it will now also include the date in the 10-day forecast, according to 9to5Google. This new feature is also available in the iOS Weather app.

The new format is currently available in Google App version 12.25. These changes make weather information more user-friendly, as having dates alongside days is helpful for long-term planning, especially beyond a week.

Since the 2023 redesign, Google’s Weather app had not received significant updates. Although Google updated the At a Glance weather icon and Pixel widgets, the app itself remained unchanged. Recently, Google also removed the dedicated app icon for Weather.

Google Weather, which now uses first-party forecasting models, might benefit from becoming a standalone application rather than being part of the Google app. Additional features like radar and more widgets for all Android devices could enhance its utility.

Meanwhile, with the release of Apple’s upcoming iOS 18 this fall, significant updates will be introduced to built-in apps like Weather, Messages, Photos, Reminders, Notes, and the Journal app. According to 9to5Mac, iOS 18 will feature two new additions.

The first feature will display both actual and feel-like temperatures prominently.

Another feature in iOS 18 will be the integration of home and work locations. Apple Maps in iOS has long used the Contacts app to pull home and work addresses from your contact card. In iOS 18, this information will also be used in the Weather app.

By default, iPhone users’ home and work addresses will be added to the list of tracked weather locations, allowing the app to monitor weather conditions at these locations without manually entering the addresses.
