In a significant breakthrough, the police have apprehended two individuals from Maharashtra suspected of orchestrating an online fraud scheme that targeted residents of Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir, with losses estimated at approximately Rs 6.7 lakh.
The suspects, identified as Parsanna Iyer and Dipin Sarkar from Thane district, were taken into custody following a thorough investigation into a complaint lodged at the Billawar Police Station in Kathua. The complaint implicated two unidentified individuals in an online fraud operation.
According to a police spokesperson, the investigation, led by Billawar Station House Officer Inspector Jatinder Singh, swiftly led to the arrest of Iyer and Sarkar. During the apprehension, law enforcement recovered crucial evidence, including a laptop and seven mobile phones believed to have been used in the execution of the fraudulent activities.
The police have reiterated their commitment to combating cybercrime and ensuring the safety and security of residents in Jammu and Kashmir.
