The suspect, 37-year-old Amit Sahu alias Pappu, claimed to have killed his wife Sana Khan due to personal and financial issues, the police official told the sources on Saturday. Sana Khan, a local BJP politician, was assassinated, and her husband was apprehended from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh by police on suspicion of murder.
Sana Khan was a resident of Nagpur who, according to Amit Sahu, was killed by being hit with a stick in Sahu’s house before having her body dumped in a nearby river.
According to the accused, who runs a ‘dhaba,’ he claimed that he killed his wife (Khan) at home by beating her with a stick before throwing her body from a bridge near Meregaon village inside the Belkheda police station boundaries into the Hiran River.
When the truth came out, the police went to the crime scene and thoroughly investigated, but the body hadn’t yet been found. The crime scene was the Hiran River, which is about 45 km from Jabalpur. The investigation’s findings indicate that the accused is also involved in smuggling alcohol.
Sana Khan, who is supposedly dead, travelled from Nagpur to Jabalpur on August 2 before going missing. Despite the efforts of her family members who came to Jabalpur to search for her, she was still missing. The FIR states that Sana Khan left Nagpur the following day and took a private bus to Jabalpur. She then contacted her mother. Later, she vanished.
According to the inquiry, she was last seen at the home in Jabalpur. As a result, on August 4, police in Nagpur, Maharashtra, registered a case and dispatched a team to seek for the woman there.
The Nagpur Police earlier identified Sana Khan, 34, as a member of the minority Bharat Janata Party cell in the eastern Maharashtra city. According to the police, Amit Sahu and Sana Khan have been involved in a drawn-out financial dispute. Sana Khan drove from Nagpur to meet Amit Sahu in Jabalpur, when they got into a heated argument. Amit Sahu then hit Sana Khan on the head. The accused also disclosed the identity of his co-defendant, who was there with him at the time of the crime, and a manhunt is currently underway for that individual. The house was searched by the Jabalpur and Nagpur Police working together, and subsequent action was taken as a result.
