Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the vibrant and culturally rich two-day festival titled ‘New J&K-New Hope’ at the Abhinav Theatre in Jammu today.
The festival, a collaborative effort by the All J&K Folk Artists’ Association, J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages (JKAACL), Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, and North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala, aims to showcase the diverse musical heritage and folk art legacy of the Jammu Kashmir Union Territory.
In his address, the Lt Governor praised the artistic diversity of Jammu Kashmir, describing it as a land where art, literature, wisdom, and culture converge harmoniously. He highlighted the significant role of talented individuals in fostering societal unity and contributing to national integration through their artistic expressions.
“We take immense pride in artists like Padma Shri recipient Folk Artist Romalo Ram, who tirelessly promote the folk art and cultural heritage of Jammu Kashmir,” remarked the Lt Governor, underscoring the importance of preserving and celebrating indigenous art forms.
Expressing the administration’s unwavering support for young and budding artists, the Lt Governor reaffirmed the commitment to providing platforms and necessary assistance for their growth and development.
He commended the participating artists for their captivating performances, which served as a testament to the rich cultural tapestry of the region.
The festival features the participation of 450 artists from various parts of Jammu Kashmir, promising a colorful showcase of traditional music, dance, and folk arts.
Among the dignitaries present were Suresh Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary of the Culture Department; Bharat Singh Manhas, Secretary of JKAACL; and Gulzar Bhat, Chairman of All J&K Folk Artists’ Association, along with senior officials, renowned artists, and a large contingent of enthusiastic youth.
The ‘New J&K-New Hope’ Cultural Festival stands as a testament to the vibrant cultural heritage of the region, fostering unity, appreciation, and pride in Jammu Kashmir’s artistic legacy.
