Leigh Whannell’s ‘Wolf Man’ delayed to January 2025

The release of “Wolf Man” has been postponed by three months, with Leigh Whannell’s supernatural horror film now set to debut in theaters on January 17, 2025, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Universal Pictures is adjusting its release plans for two upcoming horror films from Blumhouse. “Wolf Man,” featuring Christopher Abbott as a man whose family is threatened by a dangerous predator, was written and directed by Whannell and was originally slated for a pre-Halloween release on October 25, 2024.

The movie, which also stars Julia Garner and was previously associated with Ryan Gosling, is a Blumhouse and Motel Movies production. It reimagines the classic Universal monster and is produced by Jason Blum, with Mel Turner, Bea Sequeira, Ken Kao, Whannell, and Gosling serving as executive producers.

Universal has also announced that Blumhouse’s “The Woman in the Yard,” initially set to hit theaters on January 10, 2025, has been removed from the schedule. A new release date will be revealed by the studio at a later time.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and starring Danielle Deadwyler, “The Woman in the Yard” was penned by Sam Stefanak, although plot details are being kept under wraps. Blum and Stephanie Allain are producing the film, with Collet-Serra, Deadwyler, Gabrielle Ebron, Scott Greenberg, and James Moran serving as executive producers.

Christopher Abbott, known for his role in Yorgos Lanthimos’ 2023 Oscar-winning film “Poor Things,” has also appeared in Apple TV+’s “The Crowded Room” and will be seen in Sony’s upcoming movie “Kraven the Hunter.” Danielle Deadwyler, acclaimed for her lead role in the 2022 drama “Till,” will star alongside Taron Egerton in Collet-Serra’s Netflix thriller “Carry-On,” set to premiere later this year, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
