On the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the ‘J&K Sambhaav Utsav – 2024’, organized by the Resident Commission Jammu Kashmir at J&K House, New Delhi today.
In addition to launching the vibrant exhibition, the LG also unveiled several initiatives aimed at promoting Jammu and Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage and fostering engagement with the youth.
During the inaugural ceremony, Sinha emphasized that the seven-day long ‘Sambhaav Utsav’ will showcase the best of the region’s cultural, artistic heritage, cuisine, agriculture, and handicraft products. He highlighted the event’s significance in spotlighting the future trajectory of J&K as it gears up to contribute to the development of a progressive India.
The LG expressed optimism about the ‘Hello J&K’ initiative, which will serve as a platform for connecting the youth of Jammu and Kashmir with domain experts from various fields. This initiative aims to facilitate a rich exchange of knowledge, insights, and opportunities, covering areas such as education, entrepreneurship, livelihood, health, and wellness.
Reflecting on the transformative journey of Jammu and Kashmir under the leadership of
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Lt Governor Sinha noted the significant strides made in urban transformation, innovation, start-ups, agriculture, industrial development, and tourism. He highlighted the region’s emergence as a model of development and empowerment, driven by people’s participation.
The Lt Governor also outlined key initiatives of the UT Administration, including the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), GI tagging for niche products, and better market linkage, aimed at enhancing farmers’ income and promoting local products.
Various departments, including Tourism, Agriculture, Horticulture, and Information Technology, are showcasing their activities during the exhibition, featuring a diverse range of products such as ODOP items, GI-tagged handicrafts, and authentic Kashmiri products.
Additionally, the Lt Governor launched the Naya Jammu Kashmir Short Film Making competition by the Department of Information & Public Relations J&K, inviting filmmakers and citizens to showcase Jammu Kashmir’s development over the last four years.
Among the facilities inaugurated by Lt Governor Sinha are Officers’ Transit Accommodation at Rajaji Marg, Office-cum-Utility Area at J&K House, Chanakyapuri, and Fitness Centre at JK House, 5-Prithviraj Road.
The inaugural ceremony witnessed the presence of senior officials of the J&K Government, members of business and trade associations, representatives of various chambers of commerce, artisans, entrepreneurs, artists, and citizens of J&K residing in the national capital and other parts of the country.
