Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today inaugurated the prestigious 23rd All India Police Water Sports Championship 2023-24 (Men & Women) in Srinagar, marking the commencement of an exciting sporting event.

In his inaugural address, the Lt Governor extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Jammu and Kashmir Police for hosting this esteemed tournament, emphasizing its significant role in fostering sports and nurturing the holistic development of youth in the region.

Expressing his best wishes to all the participating athletes, organizers, and sports enthusiasts, the Lt Governor conveyed his optimism for a successful and memorable championship. He applauded the dedication of the J&K Police in organizing 17 prestigious All India Police Championships over the past two decades, showcasing their commitment to professionalism and excellence.Highlighting the virtues embodied by sports, especially water sports, the Lt Governor emphasized the values of discipline, teamwork, and resilience, which resonate deeply with the ethos of law enforcement agencies tasked with ensuring the safety and security of communities. “I am confident that the visiting players and team members will cherish the warm hospitality and breathtaking vistas of Jammu and Kashmir, becoming ambassadors for the UT upon their return,” remarked the Lt Governor, underlining the potential of such events to promote tourism and showcase the scenic beauty of the region.

In a solemn moment, the Lt Governor paid homage to the brave hearts of the Police and security forces for their unwavering dedication and sacrifice in serving the nation.
The championship, featuring a total of 30 teams comprising approximately 500 players and 60 technical officials and team managers, promises to be a thrilling spectacle of athleticism and sportsmanship.

The inaugural ceremony witnessed the presence of dignitaries including RR Swain, DGP; Vijay Kumar, ADGP, Armed, Law & Order; Aftab Malik, Chairman, District Development Council Srinagar, alongside senior officials of the Police, Security Forces, UT administration, eminent sportspersons, and enthusiasts.

As the competition kicks off, all eyes are set on the enthralling displays of skill and determination, as athletes from across the nation converge in Srinagar for the 23rd All India Police Water Sports Championship 2023-24.
