The Delhi High Court judges, Justice Jasmeet Singh and Justice Vikas Mahajan sat till the late in the evening during the ongoing summer vacations on June 12, 2023 to hear the cases which are listed before them.
The bench of Justice Singh held his court till 9:47 PM, the bench of Justice Mahajan held his court till 9:25 PM. Therefore, the bench of Justice Mahajan agreed to hear tomorrow some of the urgent cases which could not be heard on June 12, 2023.
The judges, Justice Jasmeet Singh and Justice Vikas Mahajan heard a total of 20 cases together in the division bench. Thus, more than 40 cases were listed before the judges in the single benches.
Both the judges, Justice Jasmeet Singh and Justice Vikas Mahajan on June 12, 2023 had ssembled together as a division bench first, after which Justice Singh and Justice Mahajan again assembled as single benches and heard the vacation matters which are to be listed before them.
The bench of Justice Singh heard all the 48 cases which are listed before him on June 12, 2023 in the single bench and the bench of Justice Mahajan could hear only about 35 cases singly and stated that he will hear other important matters on June 13, 2023. Justice Mahajan had a total of 51 cases listed before him.
Justice Jasmeet Singh held virtual court till 11:30 PM and 10:30 PM on different dates during the summer break in the year 2021.
Therefore, the judges, Justice Navin Chawla, Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani and Justice (since retired) Asha Menon conducted hearings till late night the same year.
Therefore, the regular court hours on normal working days start at 10:30 AM and usually it ends around 5:00 PM. However, the Delhi High Court is on summer vacations from June 03, 2023 to June 30, 2023.
The judges, Justice Chandra Dhari Singh, Justice Girish Kathpalia, Justice Jasmeet Singh, Justice Vikas Mahajan, Justice Tara Vitasta Ganju, Justice Amit Mahajan, Justice C. Hari Shankar and Justice Manoj Jain have been notified in its order for hearing urgent cases during the vacations.
The notification was issued by the Registrar General wherein it is stated that the judges will sit in court Wednesdays and Fridays at 10.30 A.M. The judges siting may continue for the next succeeding day if the matters is being fixed for any day and is not finished on that day.
