In the Kishanpole constituency, elections are fought on the basis of religion, with Congress and BJP pursuing mutually opposing electoral strategies, and the presence of a third party is not visible.
Kishanpole is the only assembly constituency in Jaipur district where the number of voters has decreased. In this region, the dominance of Hindu votes is often claimed, but the 2018 state assembly elections proved this principle wrong, demonstrating that Muslim voters can have an impact if they unite. More than 33.7% of the voters in this constituency are Muslims. As a result, Congress candidate Amin Kagzi achieved the distinction of being the first Muslim legislator from this constituency. Amin Kagzi is once again contesting on the Congress ticket in the upcoming assembly elections to be held on November 25. The BJP has fielded Chandra Mohan Batwara, who has a background in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), adopting a strategy of playing the Hindu card. It will be revealed on December 3 which of the Congress and BJP’s opposing election strategies proves successful.
Mohan Lal Gupta has won three consecutive elections on the BJP ticket:
Mohan Lal Gupta holds the record of winning three consecutive elections from this constituency on the BJP ticket, which has not been broken to date. In the 2003 state assembly elections, Gupta defeated Congress candidate Mahesh Joshi by 718 votes. Then, in the 2008 elections, Gupta defeated Congress’s Muslim candidate Ashk Ali Taak by a margin of 4,739 votes. In the 2013 elections, the BJP fielded Mohan Lal Gupta once again. This time, the Congress put forward Muslim candidate Amin Kagzi against him, but Kagzi failed to stop Gupta’s victorious march. Gupta emerged victorious with a margin of 9,685 votes. However, in 2018, Gupta contested for the fourth time on the BJP ticket but faced tough competition from Congress’s Amin Kagzi, who defeated him by 8,770 votes. Although Gupta contested with full force on the BJP ticket in 2018, Amin Kagzi outperformed him, marking the victory with a 20-year gap since the last time the election symbol of the hand was hoisted high.
Bhairon Singh Shekhawat has also won here twice:
The BJP’s stalwart leader and former Vice President, Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, has also been victorious in this constituency twice. He secured victories in the 1962 and 1967 state assembly elections. In both of these elections, he contested on the ticket of the Hindu right-wing party Jan Sangh. However, the credit for becoming the first legislator from this constituency goes to Congress’s Chandra Kala. She won from here in 1957.
Rameshwar Bharadwaj has also won two consecutive elections:
The BJP’s Rameshwar Bharadwaj, from the Kishanpole assembly constituency, is credited with winning two consecutive elections. He emerged victorious in 1990 and 1993 from this seat. Likewise, Giridhari Lal Bhargav from the BJP has also achieved two victories in this constituency, although they came in different elections. Bhargav won against Congress candidates with sizeable margins in 1977 and 1985. However, his desire to win two consecutive times was not fulfilled.
Congress’s Gotewala became a legislator twice:
On the Congress ticket, Shri Ram Gotewala won this seat in 1972 and 1980 in the state assembly elections. Mahesh Joshi defeated the BJP’s Rameshwar Bharadwaj in the 1998 elections by a margin of 22,211 votes. After that, no leader has managed to win with such a significant margin in this assembly constituency.

This seat is famous for interesting statistics:
This assembly constituency, known as the heart of Jaipur city, is famous for its intriguing statistics. It’s the only seat in the district where the number of voters has decreased instead of increasing in the 2023 elections. In comparison to the 2018 elections, there are 5,563 fewer voters. The number of voters has increased in the remaining 18 assembly seats of Jaipur district.
This is the seat with the fewest voters in Rajasthan. In the 2018 elections, a record 46 candidates contested this seat.
This is the same area where the number of female voters is less than one lakh. It was the constituency where a house with 359 voters’ names in a 150-square-yard house created a controversy.
This unique record of finding such a large number of voters in one house was achieved by this seat. Kishanpole area had recently been in the news due to reports of the exodus of people of a particular religion.
