Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann are gearing up to jointly organise a public meeting in Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Thursday.
The Aam Aadmi Party has been organising this meeting against the backdrop of the arrest of numerous people by the Delhi Police today for sticking up posters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in many places in Delhi. Derogatory slogans were written on the posters, like ‘Modi Hatao Desh Bachao’.
Regarding the posters, more than 100 FIRs have been lodged, and police have already nabbed at least six people. Further investigation is in progress to reach the bottom of the matter.
AAP leader and Delhi Minister Gopal Rai made it clear in a press briefing on Wednesday that the party is dejected by the Delhi police crackdown on AAP workers on a regular basis. Therefore, the party is set to raise the slogan ‘Modi Hatao, Desh Bachao’ from the stage.
The upcoming meeting in the Jantar Mantar will, incidentally, take place on Shaheed Diwas, on this day Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev were sent to the gallows in 1931.
AAP leaders are adamant about raising the slogan ‘Modi Hatao Desh Bachao’ and after that, we are planning to carry out this slogan in the Lok Sabha elections scheduled to take place in 2024, Gopal Rai said.
He went on to say that all the MPs and MLAs, workers, and national office bearers of the AAP are likely to take part in Thursday’s meeting.
Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann will address the meeting, along with remembering Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev.
