On Saturday, residents of Karnataka’s Jigani area paid their last respects to the valiant Capt. MV Pranjal made the ultimate sacrifice during the intense Rajouri encounter in Jammu and Kashmir. On Friday, dignitaries including Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah honoured Capt. Pranjal as his mortal remains arrived at Bengaluru’s HAL Airport.
Captain Pranjal, a 29-year-old officer from the 63 Rashtriya Rifles, lost his life in a fierce encounter with terrorists in Rajouri district on Wednesday. Recognizing his service and sacrifice, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced a compensation of Rs 50 lakh for Capt. Pranjal’s bereaved family.
Karnataka Minister KJ George, Bengaluru MP Tejasvi Surya, and BJP state president BY Vijayendra were among those who attended the sombre gathering at the airport on Friday. On Wednesday, terrorists clashed with a joint team of the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Bajimaal area of Rajouri district, killing five soldiers, including two Army captains.
Adding to the tragedy, two terrorists, including a prominent LeT commander and a sniper named Quari, were neutralized on Thursday. The nation mourns the loss of these brave soldiers, and Karnataka bids a tearful adieu to its hero, Captain Pranjal.
