The Indian Junior Men’s Hockey Team lit up the Men’s Junior Asia Cup 2023 in Salalah on Sunday evening with a scintillating performance, defeating Thailand 17-0 in their Pool A match.

The result means that the Indian Junior Men’s Hockey Team went undefeated in the Men’s Junior Asia Cup 2023 group stage and advanced to the tournament’s semi-finals.

The Indian Junior Men’s Hockey Team started the game on the offensive, attacking Thailand on a regular basis, but they were unable to break through in the early exchanges. Thailand not only absorbed the pressure but also attempted to attack India, who took the lead just before the end of the first quarter when Angad Bir Singh (13′) scored.

Early in the second quarter, India captain Uttam Singh sped past Thailand’s defense on the right before Yogember Rawat (17′) doubled the lead. The Indian Junior Men’s Hockey Team was beginning to take control of the game, and before the half ended, Captain Uttam Singh (24′) scored from close range. A few minutes later, Amandeep Lakra (26′) scored from a Penalty Corner, putting the Indian Colts up 4-0 and showing no signs of slowing down. Soon after, Amandeep Lakra (29′) scored his second from a Penalty Corner, and the Indian Junior Men’s Hockey Team led 5-0 at halftime.
