On Tuesday, Devasthan Minister Joraram Kumawat addressed the Assembly, emphasizing the significance of the Bada Mata Temple at Kailadevi Lake in the Bayana Assembly constituency as a major centre of faith for the people. The minister assured that a comprehensive plan for the temple’s development would be formulated.
In response to MLA Dr Ritu Banawat’s initial question, Minister Kumawat presented a list of 16 temples and registered trusts under the Rajasthan Public Trust Act, 1959, in the Bayana assembly constituency. He provided details on two government self-reliant temples and one delivery category temple under the control of the Devasthan Department. The Bada Mata Temple at Kailadevi Lake, a renowned pilgrimage site, falls under the government self-reliant category.
Minister Kumawat clarified that the temple complex does not include agricultural land, and among its commercial offerings are nine shops within the temple premises and temporary platforms in the fair area. There is no residential property associated with the temple. Additionally, he highlighted the presence of the Shri Usha Ji Qila Bayana temple complex and the state delivery category temple Shri Brijdulhe Ji, both managed by the Devasthan Department.
The minister reported a revenue of over Rs 1.61 crore generated in the last five years through the auction of temporary shops during the temple’s fairs. The income details for the years 2019-20, 2020-21 (fair not organized due to Covid), 2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24 (until December 2023) were presented in the Assembly.
The commitment to formulate a development plan for the Bada Mata Temple at Kailadevi Lake reflects the government’s dedication to preserving and enhancing significant religious and cultural sites in the state.
