In a remarkable feat, the Jammu Police successfully cracked a jewellery shop theft case within a mere 12 hours, leading to the arrest of two notorious thieves responsible for looting gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 80 lakhs on the night of Diwali.
Dr Vinod Kumar IPS, SSP Jammu, announced the breakthrough, highlighting the relentless efforts of the police teams from PS City. Under the supervision of SP North Kulbir Handa, SDPO North Sunil Kumar Kesar, and SHO PS City SI Mohinder Singh, the teams diligently pursued leads to swiftly apprehend the culprits.
SSP Jammu informed that the police meticulously collected CCTV footage, tracked the suspects’ movements, and identified their modus operandi. The accused, habitual offenders hailing from West Bengal and residing in the Khatikan Talab area of Jammu, were identified as Shafadu (son of Mohd Furqan) and Vicky (son of Sham Lal).
A case under FIR No. 71/2023 U/S 457,380 IPC was registered at PS City, leading to the prompt arrest of the accused. The police successfully recovered stolen ornaments worth Rs 70 lakhs from their possession, with additional recoveries expected.
The quick resolution of the case showcases the efficiency and dedication of the Jammu Police in swiftly bringing criminals to justice and ensuring the recovery of stolen property.
