Jaipur experienced a sudden onset of harsh winter conditions as temperatures dropped, accompanied by dense fog, impacting daily life in Rajasthan. On Sunday night, a two-degree decrease in mercury levels left people shivering in bone-chilling cold. The Meteorological Department has issued warnings about changing weather patterns, anticipating dense fog in various areas and rain in certain parts of the state by the end of the week.

The bone-chilling cold, intensified by fog, has significantly affected transportation services and pedestrian movement on the roads. The Shekhawati region, particularly Sikar district, recorded the lowest temperature at 5.8 degrees Celsius, highlighting the severity of the winter. Several districts, including the capital city of Jaipur, witnessed a drop in night temperatures, with Jaipur recording 10.8 degrees Celsius. Other districts such as Alwar, Churu, Bhilwara, Pilani, Sirohi, Sangriya, Dabok, Sriganganagar, Anta Baran, Chittor, Jaisalmer, and Kota also experienced a decline in temperatures.

Certain districts, including Barmer and Dungarpur, reported comparatively higher temperatures at 12.4 degrees Celsius and 13.8 degrees Celsius, respectively. More than six districts in Rajasthan, including Jhalawar, Bundi, Bhilwara, Hanumangarh, Sriganganagar, and Dausa, were engulfed in dense fog during the morning, causing disruptions in daily life and vehicular movement on highways. The Meteorological Department predicts the activation of a new western disturbance by the end of the week, leading to intensified winter conditions with dense fog, rain, and cold waves in some districts of North East and West Rajasthan.
