US meteorologist Colin McCarthy shared his concerns on social media, noting that the unprecedented temperature data requires formal investigation to verify its accuracy. The temperature in question was recorded at a weather station located at an airport in Iran, where an air temperature of 38.9 degrees Celsius was documented, coupled with a staggering humidity level of 85%. These factors combined to create a heat index so extreme that it could potentially be classified as the highest temperature ever recorded.

The severity of the heat in southern Iran has made it nearly impossible for people to venture outdoors. The weather station reported a heat index of 82.2 degrees Celsius. If this figure is accurate, it would be a new global record for the highest temperature ever observed.

 

Experts emphasize the extreme danger posed when heat index levels reach between 50 and 60 degrees Celsius, making the reported figure in Iran particularly alarming.
