On this Doctor’s Day, it’s time to honor doctors like Dr. Vaishali Sharma, a Senior Gynaecologist, who achieved the remarkable feat of delivering a baby weighing 4.8 kg. What makes this achievement even more notable is that the baby was delivered naturally after the patient entered spontaneous labor. Dr. Sharma, with 25 years of experience as an obstetrician-gynaecologist, guided the delivery. To put this in perspective, a typical baby weighs between 2.5 and 3 kg.

Sharing her positive experience, the patient Zahida stated, “I had an exceptional experience at Apollo Cradle Royale. Dr. Vaishali Sharma was my treating doctor, and I can’t praise her enough for her excellent care. Even though I arrived at the hospital at 1 am in labor, the staff quickly sprang into action and ensured a smooth process.”

Explaining the case, Dr. Sharma remarked, “We always strive for normal delivery for every child. However, in certain cases with complications, we have to perform caesarean sections. The majority of cases where pregnancy occurs after infertility treatment or IVF typically require caesarean deliveries. Nevertheless, we always aim for normal delivery, even in cases of conception following infertility treatment or IVF.”

“In this particular case, the patient conceived after undergoing infertility treatment. Everything progressed smoothly without complications, so we waited for spontaneous labor. She was admitted in early labor, and we augmented the process. Everything went smoothly; the fetal heart rate was stable, and she progressed well. Eventually, we delivered a 4.8 kg baby naturally. There were minimal stitches, no extra tears, no uterine or cervical tears, and no extension of vaginal tears. It was a normal episiotomy to aid in the smooth delivery of the baby without causing any lacerations or ruptures in the perineum.”

The patient added, “The doctor’s team, including the staff, were knowledgeable, attentive, and supportive throughout my journey. The doctor provided top-notch care. I’m thrilled to recommend Dr. Vaishali Sharma to anyone planning a normal delivery.”
