The Indian Navy successfully rescued 21 crew members, including an Indian national, from the Barbados-flagged Liberian-owned bulk carrier True Confidence, which reportedly came under a missile attack in the Gulf of Aden on Wednesday.

The Maritime Security Operation, led by the Indian Navy warship INS Kolkata using integral helicopter and boats, swiftly responded to the incident.

The US military reported three deaths and at least four injuries in the missile strike by Yemen’s Houthi rebels.

The Indian Navy provided critical medical aid to the injured crew and evacuated them to Djibouti.

The attack marked an escalation of Houthi assaults on merchant vessels in the Red Sea trade route.

The Houthi military spokesman claimed responsibility, stating the ship was targeted after rejecting warning messages.
