Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has intensified his allegations of voter fraud in the Haryana Assembly elections 2024, claiming that a single image of a Brazilian model appeared multiple times in the voter rolls. He said the image was used under different names such as Seema, Sweety, and Saraswati to cast votes in several polling booths.

Who is Brazilian Model?

At a press conference in New Delhi on Wednesday, Gandhi said that the Congress had uncovered proof of widespread manipulation during the Haryana elections.

He claimed that the same woman’s photograph appeared 22 times across 10 polling booths under different identities.

“Who is this lady? What is her name? Where does she come from? But she votes 22 times in Haryana, at 10 different booths, and has multiple names: Seema, Sweety, Saraswati, Rashmi, Vilma… But turns out she is actually a Brazilian model,” Gandhi said while showing her image.

He alleged that this was part of a “centralised operation” to influence the election results and prevent Congress from winning.

Congress Would Have Swept Haryana, Says Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi launched what he called “The H Files” — a collection of evidence that he claims exposes large-scale fraud in the electoral process. “We are pretty sure that a plan was put in motion to convert Congress’ landslide victory into a loss,” he said.

Gandhi said the issue was not just about the results but about the future of India’s democracy.

“I want the young people, Gen Z of India, to understand this clearly because this is about your future. I am questioning the EC and the democratic process in India — and I am doing it with 100% proof,” he said.

Claims of 25 Lakh Fake Voters in Haryana

Citing electoral data, Gandhi alleged that there were 25 lakh fake or invalid voters in Haryana — about 12.5% of the total electorate. He said this included 5.21 lakh duplicate voters, 93,174 invalid voters, and 19.26 lakh bulk voters.

He claimed that the Congress lost by a narrow margin of 22,000 votes, calling it a “theft of democracy.” “In one instance, a single photo was used for 223 votes,” he added.

Gandhi also took a swipe at Chief Minister Nayab Saini, saying, “Please notice the smile on his face and the ‘vyavastha’ he talks about. This was two days after the election when everyone was saying Congress was sweeping the polls.”

Election Commission Rejects Allegations

The Election Commission (EC) quickly dismissed Gandhi’s claims, saying there were no appeals filed against the electoral rolls in Haryana. An EC official questioned why Congress polling agents did not raise any objections at the booths if they noticed false voting.

“What were the agents of Congress doing at the polling stations?” the official asked.

The EC also countered Gandhi’s stand on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, saying, “Is Rahul Gandhi now supporting the SIR, which removes duplicate, dead and shifted voters along with verification of citizenship, or is he opposing it?”

This was Gandhi’s third press conference on alleged voter manipulation. Earlier, he had accused the Election Commission of mass voter deletions and additions and promised to reveal what he called a “hydrogen bomb” of proof on vote chori.
