On Monday, India’s major metros face sharp weather contrasts, from sunny skies in the north to intense storms along the east and south coasts. Using data from the IMD and other sources, the forecasts reveal the wide range of weather conditions influencing daily life from Delhi to Chennai.
The day’s weather map is sharply divided, offering everything from intense heat to torrential rain, with high humidity levels being a common thread linking most regions.
What is the Weather Forecast for Northern India?
The northern plains are experiencing relatively dry and warm conditions.
Delhi: The capital city is set for a sunny day with a maximum temperature of 36°C. A light morning mist is possible, but the chance of rain is virtually zero.
Jaipur: Jaipur will experience clear, sunny skies throughout day and night, with a high of 34°C and no chance of rain, just like Delhi.
Ahmedabad: Expect partly cloudy skies with a low (5-10%) chance of rain and a high of 32°C.
What Can Eastern and Southern Metros Expect?
In stark contrast, the eastern and southern parts of the country are bracing for significant rainfall and storms.
Kolkata: With overpowering humidity of 88% and cloudy weather, the city has a high (75%) chance of experiencing sporadic thunderstorms during the day.
Chennai: The day is set for heavy thunderstorms and a 65% chance of showers, with the night marked by clouds and 83% humidity.
Hyderabad: With a high of 27°C, the forecast calls for thunderstorms during the day (70% likelihood) to give way to light rain at night.
Bengaluru: The city will have a generally cloudy sky with a milder 25% chance of light rain and a comfortable high of 27°C.

What is the Outlook for the Western Coast?
The western coastal cities are experiencing typical humid conditions with a strong chance of precipitation.
Mumbai: Expect light rain throughout the day (40% chance) followed by cloudy skies at night. Temperatures will be steady, with a high of 28°C and a low of 27°C.
Pune: Light rain is predicted for most of the day and night (35-45% chance), with a high of 26°C and very high humidity levels of 90%.
Kochi: Light showers are forecast to continue day and night, with precipitation chances between 25–45% and a maximum temperature of 29°C.
Despite modest Celsius temperatures, the high humidity levels observed in almost every city—from 57% in Jaipur to 90% in Pune—can greatly raise the “feels like” temperature and cause discomfort.
It is recommended that residents and visitors make appropriate plans, with sun protection being advised in the north and umbrellas being necessary in the south and east.
