Panic gripped an Uttar Pradesh town as a ten-foot crocodile emerged from a canal and wandered into the nearby area on Wednesday. In videos captured by alarmed locals, the large reptile can be seen attempting to climb over a railing near the canal.
The crocodile ventured out of the Ganga canal near Narora Ghat in UP’s Bulandshahr. Locals promptly alerted the police and forest department, who swiftly arrived at the scene to capture the crocodile.
As officials attempted to capture the reptile, it struggled to climb over an iron railing in a bid to return to the water. Failing in its attempt, the frantic crocodile landed on the ground and attempted to flee.
To safely capture the crocodile, forest officials covered its head with a cloth and attempted to restrain its limbs to prevent the animal from attacking the rescue team. Ropes were then brought in to secure its legs, with four forest officials holding onto the ropes attached to the crocodile’s head and front legs, while another official looped a rope around its hind legs.
Subsequently, two officials lifted the crocodile’s tail while others secured a rope around its mouth. After a few hours, the crocodile was successfully rescued and released back into the canal, according to officials.
