PM Modi’s Message of Support

Taking to X, PM Modi wrote, “Heavily saddened by the loss of lives in the devastating collision in Washington DC. Our deepest condolences to all the families of the victims. We stand in solidarity with the good people of the United States.

The tragic incident happened Wednesday night when an American Airlines plane and a US Army Black Hawk helicopter collided mid-air near Reagan National Airport. The two aircraft crashed into the Potomac River, and US authorities confirmed that all 67 people on board are feared dead.

So far, rescue teams have retrieved 40 bodies from the river as the search for the remaining victims continues. On the other hand, officials recovered the black box of the American Airlines plane, which may aid investigators in establishing the cause of the disaster.

Donald Trump Reacts, To Meet Victims’ Families

Former US President Donald Trump also mourned the tragic incident, labeling it a “devastating moment” in the country’s history.

“Sadly, there are no survivors. This was a dark and agonizing night in our nation’s capital and our nation’s history and a tragedy of horrible proportions as we mourn every precious life that has been torn from us so suddenly. This is shaking a lot of people, including people from other nations,” Trump said.

He also acknowledged that he would be meeting the families of the victims and assured them to make all the efforts to not let such a tragedy happen in the future again.

“I’ll be meeting with some people who were very badly hurt with their family member, obviously, but I’ll be meeting with some of the families, yeah,” he added.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the mid-air collision, while the nation mourns the loss of lives in one of the most tragic aviation disasters in recent years.
