The Uttar Pradesh government has announced an extension of its Electric Vehicle Manufacturing, and Mobility Policy until 2027, as reported by CNBC TV. Launched in October 2022, the policy aims to accelerate the adoption of clean mobility solutions and create a conducive environment for electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing in the state.
This extension will continue to provide subsidies and incentives outlined in the policy for an additional three years. Recently, the state also exempted hybrid vehicles from road tax and registration fees, further enhancing cost savings for buyers.
Under the scheme, EV purchasers stand to benefit significantly with subsidies ranging from ₹5,000 for two-wheelers to up to ₹1 lakh for fully-electric cars. Private electric buses can avail subsidies up to ₹20 lakh, while electric three-wheelers receive ₹12,000 per vehicle.
The New Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility Policy, 2022, not only makes EVs more affordable for consumers but also provides incentives to manufacturers, aiming to attract investment and bolster production within Uttar Pradesh.
