UPSRTC wins Public Transport Excellence Award

The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Department (UPSRTC) has received three prestigious national awards from the Association of State Road Transport Undertaking (ASRTU) in New Delhi, recognizing the positive impact of the state government’s road safety and transportation efforts, according to an official statement.

The awards, known as the Public Transport Excellence Awards, are presented to institutions meeting specific criteria in various categories. UPSRTC has won in two categories (Road Safety and Fuel Efficiency) and received a runner-up award in another (New Initiatives), the statement noted.

Pranatha Aishwarya, Additional Managing Director, represented the Transport Corporation in receiving the awards. Rajeev Anand, Chief Principal Manager Technical, and Yuzvendra Singh, GM IT, were also present at the event.

The Uttar Pradesh government allocated Rs 500 crore in the previous fiscal year and has earmarked another Rs 500 crore for the upcoming fiscal year to modernize the Transportation department. With state government support, the transport corporation aims to enhance its capabilities, upgrade its bus fleet, and improve bus stations to meet high standards.

In February, UPSRTC underwent a digital transformation, leveraging advanced technology to enhance citizen-centric services across the state. The overhaul of the UPSRTC portal aimed to create a robust data-driven ecosystem within an integrated technological framework. One of the key features is the provision of online bus timetables for all routes, providing passengers with easy access to schedules, optimizing travel experiences, and reducing congestion.

By enabling real-time monitoring of vehicle movements and conducting online surveys to understand passenger preferences, the corporation aims to improve operational efficiency and profitability. Comprehensive training and capacity-building initiatives will be implemented to equip stakeholders with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively use the portal.
