In response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives on April 22, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have launched an aggressive crackdown on terrorists and their sympathisers. Security forces demolished several houses linked to terrorists and ramped up search operations to dismantle the terror network.

Security Forces Demolish Six Terrorists’ Houses

Over the past 48 hours, security forces demolished the homes of six terrorists as part of a sweeping operation to dismantle the terror ecosystem. Search operations remain underway across sensitive regions.

60 Raids Conducted Across Srinagar

On Saturday, Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted raids at over 60 locations in Srinagar, according to a police spokesperson quoted by PTI. In Anantnag, authorities set up mobile vehicle checkpoints throughout the district to monitor suspicious movements and enhance vigilance.

Pakistani Nationals Deported from Uttar Pradesh

In Uttar Pradesh, except for one individual, all Pakistani nationals on short-term visas have been deported in line with the Centre’s directives. UP’s Director General of Police Prashant Kumar stated, “As per instructions of the Government of India and the Government of Uttar Pradesh, the process of deporting all categories of Pakistani citizens eligible for deportation from Uttar Pradesh has been completed.”

Security for Kashmiris Tightened in Uttar Pradesh

DGP Prashant Kumar also instructed officers to ensure the safety of Kashmiri students, tourists, and business vendors across the state. Authorities aim to prevent any incidents of harassment following the Pahalgam attack.

Himanta Biswa Sarma Slams Bilawal Bhutto Over Indus Remarks

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma criticised Pakistan People’s Party chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for his anti-India remarks. Sarma said, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India will hunt down terror and destroy terror infrastructure wherever it exists in the world. India’s national security is non-negotiable.”

Zardari, while addressing a rally in Sukkur, said, “The brave people of Sukkur have sent a clear message by participating in the rally that we will not allow anyone to bargain over the Indus… The Modi government is unilaterally suspending the Indus Water Treaty… but I want to stand by the Indus River in Sukkur and give a clear message to India that the Indus River is ours and will remain ours; either our water will flow from this Indus or your blood.”

FBI Expresses Solidarity with India

Federal Bureau of Investigation chief Kash Patel extended condolences to the victims and support to India. Patel remarked, “The FBI sends our condolences to all the victims of the recent terrorist attack in Kashmir — and will continue offering our full support to the Indian government. This is a reminder of the constant threats our world faces from the evils of terrorism. Pray for those affected. Thank you to the men and women of law enforcement who answer the call in moments like these.”

AAP Criticises Centre Over Security Lapses

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh pointed fingers at the Centre, citing security lapses. Singh stated, “There were loopholes in security and safety. It is a tragic incident. In the all-party meeting, AAP has demanded that the PM should destroy the perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack.”

Mani Shankar Aiyar Links Tragedy to Partition Legacy

Veteran Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar reflected on the historical roots of the conflict, suggesting the Pahalgam attack reflects unresolved issues from Partition. He said, “Many people almost prevented Partition, but it happened because there were differences in value systems and assessments of the nature of India’s nationhood and its civilisational inheritance between people like Gandhi, Pandit Nehru, Jinnah and many other Muslims who did not agree with Mr Jinnah. But the fact is that the Partition happened and till today we are living with the consequences of that Partition. Is this how we should be living? Is that the unresolved questions of the Partition reflected in the terrible tragedy… in Pahalgam on April 22.”

Iran Condemns Pahalgam Attack, Calls for Regional Unity

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian condemned the Pahalgam terror attack during a phone conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to Iran’s embassy in New Delhi, Pezeshkian emphasised the need for regional cooperation to combat terrorism and said Iran “unequivocally denounces such inhumane acts.”

Victim’s Wife Demands Martyr Status for Husband

Ashanya Dwivedi, wife of Shubham Dwivedi—one of the victims—demanded martyr status for her husband. She shared, “He proudly sacrificed his life by identifying himself as a Hindu and saved the lives of many people. The first bullet hit my husband and the terrorists took time asking whether we were Hindu or Muslim… In such a situation, many people got time to run and save their lives.”

J&K Ministers Dispatched to Ensure Kashmiri Residents’ Safety

To prevent any backlash against Kashmiris in other states, Jammu and Kashmir ministers visited various regions to coordinate with local governments. J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah assigned cabinet ministers to oversee the safety and well-being of Kashmiri students, tourists, and businesspersons amid reports of harassment following the attack.
