The Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Arjun Ram Meghwal, criticised the opposition parties on Friday for creating disturbance in both houses, saying they hampered the smooth functioning of parliament.
The minister’s statement came after both houses were adjourned earlier today. The same thing happened yesterday, when parliament was adjourned without any discussion of important issues. The next meeting of the Lok Sabha is scheduled to take place on February 6, 2023, at 11:00 am.
The opposition did not remain silent and lashed out at the government, demanding an investigation in the aftermath of the Hindenburg report against the Adani Group.
Opposition parties organised a meeting in the parliament today before the start of the session. Sanjay Singh, MP of the Aam Aadmi Party, heavily criticised PM Modi amid the Adani stock controversy.
The AAP MP went on to say that the opposition members are demanding to constitute a joint parliamentary committee or a Supreme Court-monitored time-bound inquiry regarding the issue. Singh went on to say that it could be attributed to Prime Minister Modi and his government’s involvement; it appears that the PM has been protecting Adani.
“We have called the opposition party meeting to discuss the next steps,” senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said.
Both houses of parliament are currently unable to function properly due to the opposition parties’ insistence on discussing the Hindenburg report on Gautam Adani’s companies.
