Under SVEEP Program, Daman District Motivates Restaurants to Give Discounts to Those Who Vote

The Daman district has actively engaged in initiatives under SVEEP to promote voter awareness and encourage participation in the Lok Sabha elections. One noteworthy effort involves incentivizing restaurants and shopping venues to offer discounts to voters, as stated by Sanjam Singh, Chief Officer of Daman Municipal Council.

In an interview with ANI, Singh highlighted the various activities and initiatives undertaken as part of SVEEP, a program initiated by the Election Commission to educate citizens about their voting rights. Singh emphasized a unique approach of encouraging hotels and restaurants throughout the district to provide discounts to voters, particularly first-time voters who present their voter ID cards and marks.

Furthermore, efforts have been made to persuade petrol pump owners to offer discounts on fuel and to motivate supermarkets to provide discounts to voters. Additional activities include labeling e-commerce products with stickers reminding of the voting day and the significance of voting.

As part of the SVEEP campaign, a distinctive slogan “Mera Vote Meri Shakti Hai, Mera Vote Deshbhakti Hai!” has been developed for voter awareness. Additionally, a special SVEEP anthem has been launched along with comprehensive kits containing t-shirts, caps, and badges aimed at engaging young voters. The official SVEEP mascot, “Voter Didi,” has also been introduced.

Singh mentioned collaborations with popular social media influencers in Daman to effectively raise awareness among young and first-time voters. Furthermore, a food and music festival has been organized in Daman with the specific goal of promoting general voter awareness.

The Lok Sabha elections in Daman and Diu are scheduled for May 7th.
