Delhi Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh presided over a high-level review meeting to assess the progress of Phase 4 of the Delhi Metro expansion. The meeting aligned with the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to enhance urban mobility and develop a sustainable transport infrastructure in the national capital. Senior officials from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the Transport Department attended the discussions. During the meeting, officials briefed the Minister on the ongoing challenges and obstacles affecting the execution of Phase 4 of the Metro project. Key concerns such as land acquisition issues, environmental clearances, and inter-agency coordination were deliberated upon in detail.
Emphasizing the government’s commitment to the timely completion of the Metro expansion, Dr. Singh directed DMRC to meet its tree transplantation targets in strict compliance with environmental regulations. He reassured officials that all necessary support would be extended to facilitate pending approvals and administrative resolutions. Reaffirming the government’s environmental commitments, the Minister assured that adequate land would be allocated for tree plantations, ensuring a balance between infrastructural development and ecological sustainability.
The discussions also focused on crucial infrastructural integrations, including the construction of double-decker flyovers along key high-priority corridors in collaboration with the Public Works Department (PWD). Dr. Singh reviewed the financial and procedural aspects of these projects and pledged prompt action to expedite their progress. Additionally, he instructed PWD and DMRC to work in close coordination to fast-track infrastructure upgrades, particularly the integration of double-decker flyovers and connecting road networks in critical corridors.
Reiterating its commitment to strengthening Delhi’s transport network, the Transport Ministry remains dedicated to enhancing public connectivity and maintaining the highest standards of urban development. The government will continue to support the expansion of the Delhi Metro, ensuring that Delhi’s residents benefit from a world-class public transport system.
