School Holiday on 25 November (Today): Delhi-NCR, Uttarakhand & Tamil Nadu Announce Closures on Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Martyrdom Day

School Holiday Update: States across India, including Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Uttarakhand and parts of Tamil Nadu, will keep schools closed on November 25 for Guru Tegh Bahadur Shaheedi Diwas and cyclone-related weather alerts.

School Holiday on 25 November: It will be a quiet, reflective day across several Indian states on the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Delhi, along with parts of NCR and northern India, will observe the day as a public holiday. Schools and government offices will observe special schedules on this day. Weather-related warnings in southern states have also triggered additional closures.

Are schools closed in Delhi?

The Government of Delhi has declared a public holiday in honor of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji on November 25. All the schools, including government as well as many private, would remain closed. The government offices will also remain closed. However, essential services will function normally.

  • Autos, taxis and app-based cabs
  • Hospitals and emergency medical services fully operational
  • Private hospitals and clinics
  • Banks open, as the date is not an RBI-listed holiday
  • Shops, markets and restaurants expected to operate normally
  • Essential services as water, electricity, sanitation and emergency response services

Are the schools closed in Noida & Ghaziabad?

The holiday of Shaheedi Diwas has now been shifted for Uttar Pradesh to November 25. Schools in Noida and Ghaziabad are likely to follow the revised schedule and will remain closed. While formal circulars are expected from the respective institutions, closures across NCR are widely expected.

Are Schools Closed in Uttarakhand?

The Uttarakhand government has also revised its observance of the day to November 25. According to the official notification, schools and state government offices will observe a holiday.

Are schools closed in Tamil Nadu?

The rainfall caused by the cyclone has thrown normal life out of gear in Tamil Nadu. Schools remained closed on Monday in several districts including Chennai, Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur and Tiruchi. Authorities are likely to extend the closure to November 25 in various districts with heavy rain continuing and warnings from IMD.

Are schools closed in Karnataka?

While Karnataka has not announced a state holiday, districts experiencing severe rainfall because of the developing cyclone along the coast and in the south might announce local orders. Parents are requested to follow district announcements as these decisions will vary in response to weather conditions.
