School Updates: For 17 November 2025 have been issued by several states across India, as heavy rain continues to affect parts of Tamil Nadu. The southern state is marred by flooding in big districts while most other regions have stayed with their regular schedules amid weather stability with an end to election-related duties and the absence of fresh alerts.
This includes schools in Delhi NCR, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Here’s a clear breakdown of the state-wise situation that will help parents chalk out plans for the day.
School Closed in Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu remains the only state where severe disruption has been reported. Unrelenting rain in the districts around Chennai, Tiruvallur and Chengalpattu compelled officials to declare a holiday for one day.
Waterlogging in several stretches creates safety risks, hence district administrations declared a temporary shutdown for government and private institutions. Families have been advised to follow local advisories as local conditions may change given evolving rainfall.
| District/Region | Status | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Chennai | Closed | Heavy rain, waterlogging |
| Chengalpattu | Closed | Continuous rainfall |
| Tiruvallur | Closed | Flooding alerts |
| Kancheepuram | Likely closure (local orders) | Persistent rain |
| Southern TN districts | Open/Local decisions | Mild weather |
