‘Sad to support an Incapable government..’, Chirag Paswan attacks Nitish Kumar on crime

Chirag Paswan, the Union Minister and leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram-Vilas), launched a harsh attack on the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in Bihar on July 26, 2025. He was upset that the administration had not been able to stop rising crime. Paswan, a major ally of the NDA, said, “I feel sad to support a government where crime has gotten out of hand.”

His comments come after a terrible event in Gaya, where a 26-year-old woman was reportedly gang-raped in an ambulance on July 24, 2025, while the Home Guard was looking for new members. The victim had passed out during a physical screening and was being taken to the hospital when the attack happened.

“Not enough! Government responsible”

Paswan said that the Bihar government was not doing enough to stop the many crimes that were happening, such as murders, kidnappings, robberies, and rapes. He claimed, “The administration has completely given in to criminals,” and warned that things are becoming worse and worse. He wondered if the state government was trying to hide these events or if it just couldn’t handle the problem. Paswan said that the rise in crime could be related to the forthcoming elections, possibly as part of a plot to discredit the government. He also said that the government is still responsible for keeping the peace.

Repeated attacks on Nitish from the ally

Paswan has attacked the Nitish Kumar government before. Earlier in July, he talked about the “sky-high morale of criminals,” using the attack on Paras Hospital in Patna as an example of criminals openly defying the law. His repeated criticisms show that tensions are rising within the NDA alliance in Bihar, where Paswan’s party is a member.

Gaya Rape: a crime blot big enough to hideĀ

The Gaya event has made a lot of people very angry and increased calls for accountability. Paswan’s comments are part of a larger worry about the worsening law and order situation in Bihar, which could hurt the NDA’s chances of winning the election by making people less trusting.

As crime rates rise, the Nitish Kumar government is under more and more pressure to take steps that will make people feel safe and confident again. For now, Paswan’s forthright criticism shows how hard it is to work together in politics and how much Bihar needs strong government to deal with its rising crime rate.
