Prior to the planned 16-hour Lok Sabha debate on Operation Sindoor, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju advised the opposition “not to speak in the language of Pakistan” on Monday.

He further charged that the opposition was attempting to steer clear of the discussion. Following the lower house’s adjournment till 1 PM, Rijiju made the following statement: “It was determined that a 16-hour discussion on ‘Operation Sindoor’ will be held in Parliament today, as all parties wanted to hold discussions on the subject. Ten minutes prior to the start of the session, however, the INDI Alliance presented a fresh concern and requested that the government promise that, following this discussion, there would also be a discussion on SIR,” Rijiju stated.

“The Parliament does not operate in this manner. If we are all ready to have a conversation on “Operation Sindoor,” I would like to know why Congress and the opposition parties are attempting to avoid it,” he continued.
He also urged the opposition to preserve the honor of the Indian military and refrain from using the Pakistani language.
“Let the opposition refrain from using Pakistani language and depressing our army’s morale,” the Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister stated.

Rijiju Accuses the Opposition of Stalling Debate on Operation Sindoor

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has severely criticized the opposition for stopping debate on Operation Sindoor, India’s recent counter-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir, which was to have been taken up on that day. Although there was a prior understanding to take up discussions at 12:15 PM, Opposition leaders pitched in with fresh demands over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar’s voter list, throwing Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha into chaos and adjournments.

Describing it as an escape strategy, he alleged that the opposition was trying to draw attention from crucial national security issues. He added that they were setting new terms at the last minute to forego a serious discussion on the Pahalgam terror attack and India’s military response. Rijiju also added, “This is not just disruption it is deception,” maintaining that the very same strategy would damage public faith in democratic institutions in the long run.

Viewing the Debate as a Responsible Duty

Rijiju reminded the opposition that the Business Advisory Committee had decided on the day’s agenda and requested the opposition to honour their commitment to participate in the debate on Operation Sindoor. He emphasized that the government was entirely prepared for the discussion and accused the opposition of abdicating its responsibilities. The incident emphasizes the growing strain within the Monsoon Session of Parliament, where procedural protests are increasingly displacing policy debates on such important issues as national security.
