In one of the most alarming developments this month, security agencies found a big cache of explosives in Faridabad, Haryana, just a day before a deadly blast near Delhi’s Red Fort.

The two incidents one preventive, another tragic have raised fresh questions over the preparedness and coordination of India’s internal security network. Authorities say investigations are underway to determine if the two events are connected.

Faridabad Operation Uncovers 350 kg Explosives

A team of the police from Jammu and Kashmir, along with Faridabad Police, seized a huge cache of explosives suspected to be ammonium nitrate along with an AK-47 rifle, a pistol, 20 timers and other equipment in a rented house in Dhauj village. A walkie talkie set and large amounts of ammunition were also recovered.

Police arrested Dr. Mujammil Shakeel, a doctor from Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, working at a Faridabad hospital. The case has been handed over to central agencies for deeper examination, given its potential implications on national security.
