Prime Minister Narendra Modi led a historic moment in Ayodhya on Tuesday as he hoisted a saffron flag atop the newly completed Ram Mandir. The Dhwajarohan ceremony marked the formal completion of the temple’s construction, nearly two years after its consecration. The Prime Minister said the sacred flag represents truth, Dharma, and India’s long-standing cultural resolve.

Historic Flag Hoisting Ceremony at the Ram Temple

PM Modi performed the Dhwajarohan by pressing a button that lifted the 10-feet-high and 20-feet-long saffron flag to the top of the temple. The flag carries the image of a radiant Sun symbolising Lord Ram’s courage, an ‘Om’, and the sacred Kovidara tree. The shikhar on which the flag stands follows the traditional Nagara style of temple architecture.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat were present during the ceremony. The gathering witnessed a sense of spiritual pride as thousands of devotees watched the flag rise above the grand structure.

‘Pran jaye par vachan na jaye’: PM Modi

In his address, PM Modi said the Dharma flag will remind people to remain committed to truth and promises. He said, “Pran jaaye par vachan na jaaye, jo kaha jaaye wohi kia jaaye.” PM Modi added that the flag reflects the spirit of Brahma and stands for the victory of truth and Dharma.

He said the moment symbolises the fulfilment of a dream that devotees have held for centuries. The Prime Minister remarked that the pain and struggle endured over generations are finally coming to an end.

‘Wounds of Centuries Are Healing’: PM Modi

PM Modi called it an emotional day for millions across the world. He said, “Today, the entire India and the world is Ram-may. There is extraordinary satisfaction in the heart of every Rama devotee. There is boundless gratitude. There is unfathomable supernatural bliss. The wounds of centuries are being healed. The pain of centuries is being put to rest today. The resolve of centuries is being fulfilled today.”

He recalled how Lord Ram showed the meaning of values and discipline through his life. Modi said Ayodhya is the city where culture shapes character. He added that Ram left the city as a prince and returned as “Maryada Purushottam Ram”, the embodiment of righteousness.

Ayodhya Prepares for a Larger Cultural Shift

Beyond the ceremony, Ayodhya is now preparing for a major cultural and economic transformation. With the temple fully completed, the city expects a rise in global tourism, new infrastructure projects, and cultural events throughout the year.

Local officials say the ceremony signals the beginning of Ayodhya’s long-term plan to become a major spiritual tourism hub. Businesses, hotels, and artisans are already gearing up for the surge in devotees.

The Dhwajarohan is not just a religious milestone but a turning point in Ayodhya’s revival as a cultural capital. The city is set to host multiple Ramayana-themed events, art festivals, and heritage showcases in the coming months.
