Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a straightforward statement about Pakistan while addressing the audience in Varanasi: The BrahMos missiles manufactured in Uttar Pradesh shall be coined deterrence against future possibilities of threats.
In a harsh warning to Pakistan on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that any act of terrorism in the future would be faced with swift response using India’s own weaponry. While announcing the manufacturing plant in Lucknow, he claimed that upcoming BrahMos missiles fabricated in the state would target terror installations if any Pakistan dared again. Modi said that the very mention of the term “BrahMos” was sufficient to keep Pakistan on the edge.

He connected it with the wider strategy of self-reliance for India and assertively said that India’s own defense systems were put to test during Operation Sindoor. According to Modi, the operation fully showcased the defeat-proven infrastructure of Make-in-India weaponry, and India stands to respond vigorously to any future provocations.
He added, “Many major defence firms are setting up their manufacturing plants in the UP Defence Corridor. Made in India weapons will soon become the strength of our forces.”
Highlighting the government’s efforts, he said, “Our government is doing everything it can in the best interest of the country.”
Operation Sindoor and Defense Manufacturing Surge Operation
Operation Sindoor was launched for a targeted swift military response after Pahalgam’s 26 lost lives due to the terror attacks. Modi acknowledged that India intercepted almost 1,000 Pakistani missiles and drones on May 9, and retaliated in 22 minutes hitting specific goals within enemy territory. BrahMos was confirmed in action during those strikes by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath: “Pakistan literally saw how devastating the missile could be,” he told reporters. “Ask the people of Pakistan,” he invited skeptics, “what the impact of BrahMos was.”
Simultaneously, Indian defense policymakers accelerated missile production across the nation. This new facility in Lucknow is expected to make between 100-150 next-generation BrahMos for the country starting from 2026. It operates alongside Hyderabad and Nagpur to serve an important function regarding missile system output under the broader Uttar Pradesh Defense Corridor initiative to improve military readiness with economic development.
The point was well made by Modi: India will no longer be intimidated by hollow nuclear threats. He included that as part of his doctrine of three rules- that is every terrorist act would be met subsequently by an equal measure from India’s armed forces. Even if the threat warning comes laced with atom bomb threats, it did not affect India’s firm posture on security of the nation but placed India in a higher spot in the missile production technology scale. Clear signals to enemies: make-in-India defense strength as a shield, also an alert.
