Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit to Gujarat on August 25 and 26, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for several major infrastructure projects, according to an official release.
Push for “Viksit Gujarat, Viksit Bharat”
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat has been advancing towards the vision of Viksit Gujarat for Viksit Bharat, built on the principles of transparency, progressiveness, decisiveness, and sensitivity. As part of this mission, the Roads and Buildings Department is carrying forward landmark initiatives to make Gujarat more dynamic and future-ready.
₹307 Crore Investment in Connectivity
The projects, with a total investment of ₹307 crore, are expected to boost daily commuting infrastructure, ensuring safer, more convenient, and efficient travel across North Gujarat and beyond. Officials say the developments will not only improve road connectivity but also contribute to Gujarat’s role as a major driver of national growth, aligning with the goal of achieving Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Key Projects to Be Launched
One of the main highlights of the visit is the dedication of the 21-km Viramgam–Khudad–Rampura road in Ahmedabad district. This road has been widened to 7 meters at a cost of ₹33 crore and will serve as an important industrial corridor, linking Viramgam and Detroj talukas. The improved route is expected to ease transport for industries and generate new employment opportunities.
Along with this, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stones for several crucial projects in Ahmedabad, Mehsana, and Gandhinagar districts, including:
-
Three six-lane vehicle underpasses on the Ahmedabad–Mehsana–Palanpur road (₹126 crore)
-
A railway overbridge at Level Crossing No. 40 on the Ahmedabad–Viramgam road (₹70 crore)
-
Renovation of the 24-km Kadi–Thol–Sanand road (₹45 crore)
-
Expansion of the Bapasitaram junction to GIFT City into an eight-lane road (₹33 crore)
Improving Connectivity & Reducing Travel Time
These infrastructure upgrades are strategically designed to remove traffic bottlenecks, particularly at railway crossings and busy junctions in North Gujarat. The underpasses and overbridge will save both time and fuel for commuters, while the upgraded roads will provide seamless connectivity to economic and tourism hubs like GIFT City, a leading fintech destination, and the Thol Bird Sanctuary.
Benefits for People & Economy
Officials highlighted that these projects will not only benefit daily commuters but also attract new investments and further strengthen North Gujarat’s status as a hub for business and tourism.
Joint Efforts of Centre and State
The visit underscores the collaborative efforts of the Central and State Governments in improving Gujarat’s infrastructure. Under the guidance of CM Bhupendra Patel, the Roads and Buildings Department is committed to building durable infrastructure in line with the long-term vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
