PM Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that “the wounds and pain of centuries are healing today” as he hoisted the saffron Dharma flag at the newly built Ram temple in Ayodhya. The ceremony marked the official completion of the temple and fulfilled what he described as a 500-year-old resolve.

The PM said the flag represented the ideals of Lord Ram and the victory of truth and righteousness. The event took place during the auspicious Abhijit Muhurat, a time many Hindus consider spiritually powerful.

PM Modi said the moment signified the restoration of faith and the completion of a long journey shaped by sacrifice, dedication and devotion. He said the ceremony symbolised unity and the spiritual strength of the nation. According to him, the ideals connected to Lord Ram continue to inspire millions.

Ram Mandir Flag Hoisting Ceremony

PM Modi raised the 10×20-ft triangular saffron flag in the presence of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, and CM Yogi Adityanath. The flag carried significant symbols, including a radiant Sun, the sacred ‘Om’, and the Kovidara tree.

The PM said these symbols reflected awakening, dedication and hundreds of years of collective devotion. He noted that the moment honoured the years of determination and faith that saints and devotees had carried forward.

Ram Mandir Saffron Flag: Symbol of Resolve

In his address, PM Modi said the Dharma flag would guide the nation. He added that it represented a “symbol of resolve” and carried the collective dreams “passed down through centuries” and realised through deep penance and effort.

“This is the Dharma flag, proclaiming the ideals of Lord Ram to the world,” he said. He added that the flag upheld the timeless values of truth and righteousness.

PM Modi also invoked the national motto Satyameva Jayate. He said, “truth alone triumphs, not falsehood,” and asked people to keep their word “even if it costs us our life”. He said the hoisting reaffirmed faith in Dharma and the importance of standing firm on principles.

Temple Trust Calls It a Milestone

Champat Rai, general secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, said the event marked the temple’s formal completion. He called it a milestone in the long and emotional Ram Janmabhoomi movement.

Ayodhya Prepares for Cultural Tourism Surge

The ceremony also marks a new phase for Ayodhya. With the formal completion of the temple, the city is preparing for a major rise in cultural and religious tourism. Officials expect a sharp increase in visitor numbers during the upcoming festive season.

Local businesses have begun expanding services, including hotels, transport and guided tours. State authorities are working on new infrastructure projects to manage the expected rush.

The flag-hoisting event signals not only a historic religious moment but also the beginning of Ayodhya’s transformation into a global spiritual destination.
