The Prime Minister Modi thanked Donald Trump, the former U.S. President, for helping to negotiate a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and putting an end to nearly two years of fighting in Gaza. Immediately following this, Trump said that both parties have accepted the first stage of his 20-point peace proposal raising some hopes for calm and stability in the war-torn region.
India Commends Trump on Peace Efforts
In a post on X, PM Modi discussed his phone call with Trump, calling the peace agreement historic and congratulating the efforts behind its successful negotiation. He also praised Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s leadership saying the ceasefire really shows effective and determined leadership with the public endorsement reinforces India’s continuing commitment to a peaceful and diplomatic settlement in the Middle East.

Trade Talks on Track
The foreign policy, PM Modi stated that the two sides, India and America have been looking into resuscitating their trade negotiations and this process had begun to slow because of a number of tariff-related disputes. Prime Minister indicated that both sides had reviewed the status and progress made so far and were aligned in seeking deeper engagement and he expressed optimism about future collaboration highlighting the need for strategic alignment between New Delhi and Washington in geopolitical and economic terms.

A Complicated Agreement with Global Implications
The ceasefire agreement reached through indirect negotiations in Egypt with the mediation of the United States, Israel, Egypt and Qatar represents a fragile but hopeful turning point. The deal allows for a mutual cessation of hostilities as well as a phased release of hostages and prisoners.
Its announcement came just a day after the anniversary of Hamas’s attack on Israel, adding even more symbolic and political weight to the occasion while complex the hope is that with this first breakthrough an avenue opens toward enduring peace and something the international community has sought for a long time.
