The deep contemplation and a series of deliberations on the general election outcome have begun in BJP. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started seeking answers from BJP-ruled states which got fewer seats than expected in Lok Sabha elections.
The process has begun with Rajasthan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi summoned Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma to Delhi on Monday. He skipped the pre-scheduled pre-budget and reached Delhi. The CM was at PM’s residence for about two hours. A review session will follow on Tuesday. Speculation suggest that discussions during the meeting would include the outcomes of the Lok Sabha elections and upcoming budget plans.
According to sources, Union Minister and senior party leader Bhupendra Yadav was also present on this occasion. The CM addressed Rajasthan’s essential requirements and subsequently scheduled meetings with the Union ministers of mines, petroleum, and coal to discuss energy needs.
Accompanying him were ACS Shikhar Aggarwal, Secretary Sandesh Nayak, and other officials, who will participate in budget-related discussions and strategise for the upcoming Assembly session in Rajasthan
PM Modi sought detailed information about each lost seat. Rajasthan also becomes important for PM Modi because just 6 months ago he had done a big experiment by making Bhajanlal Sharma, who became an MLA for the first time, the Chief Minister of the state.
Last year, BJP had contested elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh with PM Modi as its face and won all three states.
At the same time, the Prime Minister had also made new faces the CM in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. BJP performed brilliantly in both these states.
However, the party lost 11 seats in Rajasthan. The biggest reason for the defeat in Rajasthan is said to be factionalism, lack of coordination between the government and the organisation. The party suffered losses due to CM Sharma having no experience. He did not get the benefit of being close to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Birla was entangled in his own election.
CM’s personal staff also remained confined to themselves. There was also lack of coordination in media management, it is said.
If sources are to be believed, PM Modi may soon summon the CMs and leaders in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. However, PM Modi is going to his parliamentary constituency Varanasi on Tuesday. It is possible that he will discuss separately with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Meanwhile, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat is also on a tour of Gorakhpur. The Sangh chief is also believed to be assessing the defeat in Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, on Monday itself, a meeting of Haryana leaders was held in Delhi. In which Chief Minister Naib Saini and all the major leaders participated.
BJP has lost 29 seats in Uttar Pradesh and 11 seats in Rajasthan in the recently concluded general elections. Similarly, if 5 seats of Haryana are added, the loss is 45.
