A day before the Monsoon Session of Parliament, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh said his party will question the central government about US President Donald Trump’s repeated claims. Trump had said that he helped mediate a ceasefire between India and Pakistan as part of a proposed trade deal with India. Singh demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi clarify these statements. He said the Prime Minister must come to Parliament and explain the situation. According to Singh, Trump also mentioned the downing of five jets, which, he argued, is not the US President’s concern. Singh stated that this matter will be raised in the all-party meeting and during the session.

AAP to Raise Local and Regional Issues in Parliament

Sanjay Singh also said that his party would raise several other important issues. He spoke about the bulldozer drives in Delhi that, according to him, have badly affected people from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and the Purvanchal region. Many of these individuals ran small businesses on carts and have now lost their livelihoods. Singh also criticized the Uttar Pradesh government’s decision to shut down over 5,000 schools. He mentioned a recent plane crash in which an Indian pilot is being blamed, calling it unfair. Moreover, he alleged an open scam in the Bihar elections and said that his party would expose the irregularities in the House. He also plans to highlight problems in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

Government to Push Major Bills in the Monsoon Session

The Monsoon Session of Parliament begins on July 21 and will continue until August 21. During this time, the government will try to pass several key bills. These include the Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, the Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill, and the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill — all of 2025. Other bills on the list are the Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) Bill, the Geoheritage Sites and Geo-relics (Preservation and Maintenance) Bill, the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, the National Sports Governance Bill, and the National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill.

Additional Legislative Proposals on the Agenda

The government also plans to present the Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in Assembly Constituencies of Goa Bill, 2024, along with the Merchant Shipping Bill, 2024. The Indian Ports Bill and the Income Tax Bill — both of 2025 — are also expected to be introduced. These proposed laws cover a wide range of topics, including taxation, port governance, education, sports, and tribal representation.

Lok Sabha Introduces New Digital Reforms

As part of its plan to modernize Parliament, the Lok Sabha Secretariat has introduced several digital features. Under the leadership of the Lok Sabha Speaker, each MP seat is now equipped with a multimedia conferencing device. These devices allow members to mark their attendance electronically. This feature will save both time and resources during each session day. It also improves the efficiency of Parliamentary work.

AI-Driven Language Accessibility for Citizens

In another step toward greater inclusivity, the Secretariat has started using AI tools to publish daily Parliamentary business documents in 12 Indian languages. These include Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu. The papers are now available in real-time on the Digital Sansad portal (https://sansad.in). This move is meant to make Parliamentary proceedings easier to follow, both for Members of Parliament and for citizens across the country.
