Two Telangana workers from India lost their lives in a horrific sword attack at a Dubai bakery on April 11. Their families allege that a Pakistani national committed the attack while chanting religious slogans. Union ministers have reacted quickly, assuring assistance with repatriation and demanding justice. The incident has raised alarm over worker safety and the response system for Indians overseas.
Ashtapu Premsagar (35) from Soan village in the Nirmal district was one of them. He was working at the bakery for five or six years. His uncle, Poshetty, has confirmed that he died instantly after getting attacked by a sword. Another employee, Sagar, was injured and is still in hospital. The second casualty was Srinivas from Nizamabad district.
Mourning families demand government aid
Ashtapu Premsagar leaves behind a wife and two children. His family, not knowing of his death in the first place, now faces emotional trauma as well as financial strain. Poshetty called upon the Indian government to repatriate the body of Premsagar and grant compensation to the grieving family. Sagar’s wife, Bhavani, confirmed her husband is receiving treatment.
Ministers react and ensure repatriation
The attack was denounced by Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, who expressed his sorrow. He confirmed calling up External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, who assured him full assistance and prompt repatriation of the bodies. Reddy also advocated taking legal action against the culprits and ensured family members of complete cooperation from the government.
Deeply shocked by the brutal killing of two Telugu youth from Telangana in Dubai, Ashtapu Premsagar from Nirmal Dist. and Srinivas from Nizamabad Dist.
Spoke to Hon’ble External Affairs Minister Shri @DrSJaishankar ji on the matter and he has assured full support to the bereaved…

Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar also said the same thing. He affirmed that officials from the home ministry and the Ministry of External Affairs are coordinating with each other to offer help. He also assured to keep a check on the case so justice is delivered in a timely manner.
Wake-up call for worker safety abroad
This incident has reignited concerns about the safety of Indian migrant workers in Gulf countries. It also raises questions about religiously motivated violence and how foreign governments address such cases. The Indian government must now consider stronger protocols for protecting its citizens overseas and improving response systems in emergencies.
The Indian government has assured immediate repatriation and assistance to the affected families. But the call for justice transcends condolences. The authorities need to work with UAE officials to ensure that the pakistani attackers are given a fair but speedy trial.
Meanwhile, India needs to review the security and legal protection mechanism for its migrant workers overseas.
