Rapido has recently entered the food-delivery game. The company rolled out its new app called ‘Ownly’ in selected Bengaluru neighbourhoods. It pledges affordable meals and a pricing model different from the giants.
Ownly is a standalone food-delivery app by Rapido. It operates on a zero-commission model for restaurants, has no hidden packaging fees, and promises online prices equal to offline prices. The user simply opens the app, picks meals and gets delivery in the service area.
When was it Launched?
Rapido began the pilot of Ownly in Bengaluru around June–July 2025. It went live on the Google Play Store in August 2025 in select areas such as Koramangala, HSR Layout and BTM Layout.
How Is It Different From Swiggy and Zomato?
- Ownly charges zero commissions to restaurants, unlike Swiggy and Zomato, which charge around 16-30 % per order.
- It promises no extra packaging or platform fees, and online menu prices equal offline ones. “The price of a dish (excluding GST) is the final price the customer pays. There is no other addition from us or a restaurant partner.”
- Delivery-fee model is fixed, and that is for orders within a 4 km radius: Order value ≤ ₹100 triggers certain charges, orders above ₹100 have a flat delivery fee.
- Targeting meals under ₹150, with many essentials like rice, eggs, and chapati priced below ₹100.
- Built on Rapido’s large rider network (bike taxis), which may allow faster, lower-cost delivery in local neighbourhoods.
How Much Time Does It Take to Deliver Food?
Rapido has not published an exact average delivery time for Ownly yet. But since the model targets a tight radius (4 km) and leverages local riders, the expectation is that delivery will be as fast or faster than current large apps in the pilot zones. Analysts note the challenge, though, as quick delivery plus low cost is a tough combination.
What Kind of Items Are Available on It?
Ownly currently offers meals from partner restaurants and eateries in Bengaluru. Brands like Wow! Momos, EatFit, Faasos and Krispy Kreme are listed. The focus is on everyday meals and staples, not just premium or gourmet. The model emphasises affordability and value.
What Is the Price Range of the Products?
Most dishes on Ownly are priced around or below ₹150. Essentials like rice, eggs and chapatis can be under ₹100.
The delivery fee model is:
- For orders ≤ ₹100: the delivery cost could be ~₹20 for the customer (restaurant pays part) in a standard radius.
- For orders between ~₹100-₹400: flat delivery fee around ₹25 + GST.
This compares favourably against many platforms where menu mark-ups, packaging and commission fees push final cost higher.
Empowering Small Restaurants & Price-Sensitive Customers
Ownly does more than challenge big players. It gives a platform to small and independent restaurants by offering them zero commissions and requiring price parity online/offline. This helps them avoid high fees that squeeze margins on other platforms.
For customers, this means affordable meals in neighbourhoods, not just in premium zones. Rapido is banking on a “Bharat”-first approach — reaching value-sensitive users outside big metro behaviours.

Can Ownly Disrupt the Food Delivery Game?
Ownly marks Rapido’s bold step into an already crowded, tough food-delivery market. With its zero-commission model, offline-equal prices and tight local radius delivery, it offers a clear point of difference versus Swiggy and Zomato.
Whether it can scale beyond its pilot zones in Bengaluru and maintain speed, reliability, and partner satisfaction remains to be seen. But for cost-conscious users and restaurants tired of high commissions, Ownly presents a fresh alternative.
