Palghar On Red Alert

IMD has declared red alert for Palghar district warning of very heavy to heavy rainfall at some places, with a chance of extremely heavy rain at isolated places on September 29. The alert, declared after IMD’s prediction, comes in wake of growing fears of flooding and waterlogging at different locations of the district.

As a precaution, district collector Manik Gursal declared a holiday for government, private schools, Anganwadis, Zilla Parishad schools, municipal schools, and aided institutions in Palghar on Monday. The order was given keeping in mind the safety of students and teachers as the area prepares to face heavy showers.

Authorities have directed education officials and school administrators to adhereto the order seriously. Teachers and non-teaching personnel have been directed to stay vigilant and assist local administration in relief operations, if needed.

The district administration also appealed to citizens to be careful, avoid unnecessary outings, and adhere to local advisories since heavy rains are expected to persist until October 3 over selected regions of Maharashtra.

Weather in Maharashtra for the Next Few Days

The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall spells over scattered areas of all the districts of Maharashtra until October 3, as per its district-wise forecast.

Parbhani, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur and Kolhapur ghats will experience heavy rains with thunderstorms and winds up to 40 kmph until Friday.
