NEET Paper Leak Case: Bihar Police Uncover Maharashtra Link

In Maharashtra, authorities are investigating two teachers in connection with a potential paper leak during the NEET medical entrance exam, suggesting that Bihar may not be the sole state where such malpractices have been uncovered.

Sanjay Tukaram Jadhav and Jalil Umar Khan Pathan were detained by the Nanded Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on suspicion of their connection to the NEET paper leak case. They were educators at Zilla Parishad schools and managed private coaching institutes in Latur.

Sources mentioned that they were let go following several hours of interrogation and will be summoned again if required.

NEET and UGC-NET exams in India have caused uproar due to paper leaks. The CBI is now investigating both at central and state levels, with the government promising to safeguard students’ interests. They are also looking into UGC-NET issues like leaked papers being sold online.

Bihar Police arrested four individuals for leaking NEET UG exam papers the night before. They are now investigating ‘solver gangs’ that sell leaked papers and provide proxy candidates for exams.

Yesterday, the government replaced the testing body head and formed a panel to investigate NEET irregularities. A new law was also enacted to prevent paper leaks and exam malpractices.

Over 24 lakh students took the NEET UG test on May 5. After the June 4 results, allegations of paper leaks and grace marks given to over 1,500 students emerged, leading to protests, court cases, and a CBI probe. Today, 1,500 aspirants will retake the NEET exam at seven centers after the testing agency removed the earlier awarded grace marks. Exam officials will oversee the re-tests for smooth conduct.

The NEET PG exam, planned for today, was called off last night, and the Health Ministry mentioned that a new date would be announced shortly. Similarly, the UGC-NET exam was also cancelled, just a day after it had been conducted.
