The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar has announced a major initiative aiming to push Bihar air travel and give Bihar a fillip. This move is all about improving connectivity and making it easier for people to travel in and out of the state.

A New Global Gateway near Patna

Its main promise is to construct a new greenfield international airport close to Patna; “greenfield” means it will be built on new land, designed from scratch, having all the modern features to handle both domestic and international flights.

This new hub is expected to reduce the load on the existing airport and give Bihar a world-class entry point, inviting more business and tourism.

Improving Regional Airports

The NDA has proposed, besides the new airport, major upgrading of three important regional airports. The Darbhanga, Purnea, and Bhagalpur airports are to be developed into international airports.

This means they would be able to handle big aircraft and offer flights to many countries and not just to major Indian cities.

This indeed would be a great thing for the people living in those parts of Bihar who have to travel very far for international travel.

Expanding Domestic Flight Network The alliance will also expand domestic air services to 10 new cities in order to make travel within Bihar and the rest of the country easier.

This expansion will result in the addition of more flight routes, therefore allowing direct connectivity to many regions inside and outside Bihar. This focus on air connectivity is a major step toward making Bihar a better-connected state.

Better airports and more flights will not only save travel time for the people but are also expected to create new jobs and boost the local economy by making the state more attractive to investors and tourists.
