A team from Mumbai Police visited the Oshiwara residence of comedian Kapil Sharma on Friday, a day after gunshots were fired at his newly inaugurated cafe in Canada. The visit was solely to verify his residential address, a senior police official told PTI.

“Police personnel visited DLH Enclave building in Oshiwara, a day after the firing at his restaurant in Canada. The team left the place in some time after confirming the address,” the official stated.

The official also confirmed that no formal statement was recorded from Kapil Sharma, nor was any additional security deployed at his residence.

Shots Fired at Kapil Sharma’s ‘Kap’s Cafe’ in Canada

The police visit followed an alarming incident in British Columbia, Canada, where multiple shots were fired at Kapil Sharma’s cafe — Kap’s Cafe — located near the Surrey-Delta border in the early hours of Thursday. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

According to the Surrey Police Service (SPS), officers received a call about gunfire at approximately 1:50 am local time.
“On Thursday, July 10, at 1:50 am, Surrey Police Service was called to a business located in the 8400 block of 120 Street for a report of shots fired,” SPS said.
“Upon police arrival, it was quickly determined that the shots were fired towards the business, damaging the property, while staff members were still present inside,” the police statement added.

Cafe Issues Statement on the Incident

Kap’s Cafe, which opened its doors on July 4, released a heartfelt message on Instagram in response to the shooting incident.

“We opened Kap’s Cafe with hopes of bringing warmth, community, and joy through delicious coffee and friendly conversation. To have violence intersect with that dream is heartbreaking. We are processing this shock but we are not giving up,” the cafe said in its official statement.

The statement continued with gratitude toward supporters:

“Your kind words, prayers, and memories shared via DM mean more than you know. This cafe exists because of your belief in what we’re building together. Let’s stand firm against violence and ensure Kap’s Cafe remains a place of warmth and community. From all of us at Kap’s Cafe, thank you and see you soon, under better skies.”

As of now, neither Kapil Sharma nor his representatives have issued a direct statement regarding the firing incident or the police visit.
