Several vehicles collided on the Noida Expressway on Friday morning as thick fog severely reduced visibility, leaving multiple people injured.

Chain Collision on Eastern Peripheral Expressway

Police reported that nearly a dozen vehicles were involved in a chain collision on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway near Dadri in Greater Noida. The accident happened close to Chakrasainpur village, within the limits of Dadri police station, causing a major traffic jam on the busy highway.

An internet user, Yunus Alam, shared a video on X of the aftermath of the collision, showing the vehicles severely crushed and damaged.

Poor Visibility Blamed for Accident

Officials said dense fog made it difficult for drivers to see the road ahead, resulting in vehicles crashing into each other. Traffic on the expressway came to a complete halt following the collision.

Police and Toll Staff Clear the Road

To manage the situation, police along with toll plaza personnel deployed cranes to remove damaged vehicles and gradually ease congestion. Officers remain at the site to regulate traffic. Authorities have advised drivers to maintain safe distances, follow speed limits, and drive cautiously in foggy conditions.

About the Eastern Peripheral Expressway

The Eastern Peripheral Expressway, also known as the Kundli–Ghaziabad–Palwal Expressway, is a six-lane, 135-kilometre highway passing through Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. It serves as a key route for traffic in the National Capital Region.

Visuals Show Extent of Damage

Images from the scene revealed a white car on the central divider with its front badly crushed, a truck nearby, and another car trapped under a truck. Police believe drivers failed to notice vehicles ahead due to low visibility, causing the chain collision.

Police Investigation Underway

The Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissionerate confirmed that officers are on-site and an investigation is ongoing. “In the said case, the police force is present at the scene, and necessary actions are being taken,” the Commissionerate said on X (formerly Twitter). The exact number of vehicles involved and injured people is still being verified.

Delhi-NCR Residents Face Smog and Poor Air Quality

The accident occurred as Delhi-NCR woke up to dense smog, which affected visibility across the region. Air pollution levels also remained high, with Noida Sector-125 recording an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 449 at noon, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.
