Police apprehend medical college attendant for sexually assaulting woman

Authorities revealed on Monday that the Kozhikode Police nabbed a 55-year-old attendant for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman who underwent surgery at the medical college.

As per the statement given by authorities the accused is identified as Saseendran, and he was arrested on charges of rape. As per the complaint, the woman was transferred to the women’s surgical ICU from the main surgery department two days ago.

The complaint reads, “The woman was semi-conscious at that time. Around that time, another patient was in critical condition, and all the staff had moved to attend to that patient. The woman was shifted from the operation theatre to the surgical ICU by this attendant. She knew about the assault but was not able to react because she was in a semi-conscious condition at the time.”

The victim had earlier revealed the incident to her husband after she regained consciousness. Later, they filed a complaint with the Medical College Police, and the college identified the accused and registered a case.
