A 49-year-old owner of a medical shop in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior apparently took his life because he was upset over his daughter’s marriage, which went against the family’s wishes.
According to a report, the man was discovered dead in his bed by members of his family who had heard the sound of a gunshot.
Daughter Had Married Against Family’s Wishes
Krishna Lalchandani, an additional superintendent of police, said the daughter of the victim had gone home around 15 days ago with a youth from a different community of the locality.
She was subsequently tracked down to Indore and brought home. In a court appearance, she said that she had got married legally and preferred to stay with her husband.
Note Left Behind Expresses Emotional Distress
The owner of the medical store left a note, which was on a printout of his daughter’s Aadhaar card. He was reported to have been in emotional distress over her insistence on marrying against the wishes of the family. According to the report.
In the note, he reportedly wrote: “You did wrong, I am leaving. I could have killed both of you, but how could I kill my daughter?”
“Daughter, what you did was not right… And the lawyer who sacrifices an entire family for some money – doesn’t he have daughters too? Doesn’t he understand the pain of a father? One whole family has been destroyed, and now there’s nothing left in society,” According to the report, the note written by him.

Father of the man who wed the medical store owner’s daughter was assaulted. As per a report, family members of the owner of a medical store allegedly attacked the father of the man who had married the daughter of the victim.
Eyewitnesses stated that the father of the man was allegedly dragged out from his house and beaten until he became unconscious. Pedestrians intervened and took the injured man to a nearby hospital.
A case has been filed and the police are probing the alleged suicide and subsequent attack.
